If you had to write a book, what would the subject be and why?

With two groups and two new members we all got twice the value. Here are the answers to the session question.

What they don’t teach you at business school

What You Will Regret

The concept revolves around interviewing elderly individuals about their life regrets, seeking to glean wisdom and life lessons from their experiences.

Transcription in Learning Music

This book would explore a unique method of learning music that emphasises listening, singing, and then playing, challenging conventional teaching methods and focusing on deep understanding and mimicry in music education.

The Mess in the Middle: Navigating the Complex Organisation

This book would delve into the complexities of working within large organisations, discussing the challenges and strategies for navigating internal politics and organisational structures.

Play / Pause – Mixing Music with You

This book discusses how inadequate the current education system is (this got a lot of agreeable nods from everyone in the room) in particular that the education system adopts a one-size fits all strategy.

As a result the book doesn’t follow the standard model for teaching people to DJ but adopts an almost forensic style of teaching where the author looks at each component and button on the DJ decks in isolation and helps his students get the full range of use out of every feature. This helps the students create their own style but also helps them replicate techniques from more established DJs a lot easier.
